I have my kindergartner in morning SACC, which he will likely be attending most mornings. On the first day of school my husband wants DC to ride the school bus, but I am wondering since this will not be part of his regular routine, if it would be better for him to attend morning SACC on his first day of school?
I am torn on what to do for the first day that would be least confusing to DC, the SACC teacher or bus driver. DC will be riding the school bus home, and there might be occassional mornings where he may be riding the bus to school. Also, I guess they don't have a SACC orientation? I received the notice that I am enrolled in SACC, but nothing regarding orientation or informative information. |

Are you going to the Open House this week? SACC will alos be there and "open" so you and your DC can meet the SACC teachers as well. There is also paper work you can pick up and fill out while you are there.
In general, I think it is best to start the first day of school for how they will be moving forward. Since riding the bus to school is not part of her regular routine, I would take her to SACC and let her ride the bus home. Also, the first days of school can be VERY chaotic with the school bus. The drivers are learning routes. New bus drivers have been known to quit and not show up on the first day of school (happened to us in first grade...the bus just never came) and in general it can be very confusing. Make sure that her teacher knows that she will NOT be going to afternoon SACC. Sometimes they just assume that kids in morning SACC are also in afternoon SACC. |
