good clothing brands for chubby toddler boy

Anonymous
Ds is 16 months and wears 2t but often pants are too long AND too tight on his chubby thighs. Still has all his baby chub! Anyone find good brands for this build?

If 2T is to tight (forget the length b/c you can roll up) you need to size up to 3T. You do not size to fit for length b/c you will end up with clothes that are to small b/c they are to tight. My DD was chubby and is now solid. She wore 2T at 12 months and 3T by 18 months. it's more difficult with boys b/c you can't do leggings. With my DS we just rolled up the pants and fit for the waist and the rise alone.

Hanna Anderson. I love their clothes but DC cannot wear their pants b/c they are all too big in the waist if they fit in length. Not for long skinny builds but great for the more robust. Excellent quality, too.

Have you tried Children's Place? Their clothes tend to run a little large.

Don't worry too much about length - you can roll them up and as he grows taller and leaner they'll still fit.

Try Gymboree? They never work for my skinny DS, so they might work for 'bigger' kids.

This won't work if you're into buying higher end clothing, but for play clothes, the house brand at Sears is cut REALLY wide. I mean, my skinny 4yo wears his super chubby 18 mo brother's pants as shorts.

I second Hanna Andersson. Also Naartjie.

I have a cubby baby too, and would like to order clothes online from Children's Place. DH is 18 months but wears 24 months to 2T with Carter's. For Children's Place, should I order 18 months since the sizes run a little larger?

I found the opposite to be true for Children's Place. My son was a big boy (not chubby, just huge for his age), and everything always was snug on him from there. Old Navy track and sweatpants were what got us through when he was a toddler and he needed stuff to just play in that I didn't care if it got ruined. Their jeans also have adjustable waistbands, but I don't think I ever bought them for him there when he was that age, I think I got them from H&M.

I'm having this issue also. My daughter has always been HUGE for her age since birth. She's now 2, and she wears a 4T. I just tried to buy her 4T jeans for the fall, and they are too tight in the waist (this is even with the adjustable waist unbuttoned). Ugh! I can't find any jeans that fit her..do I have to do a size 5?? Maybe I'll look into that Sears brand like one of you said?

You guys, 2T at 18 months isn't chubby. It's normal. Don't size for "age", go by the weight that is listed on the tag. My 26 month old wears a size 4T already and he's tall & skinny. Read the dimensions on the tag and stop going by the "age" on the tag.

Janie and Jack are also cut big. My ds is skinny and the clothing looks ridiculous on him.

We had good luck at the Gap, particularly by ordering online.
