What time do you think we'll know?? Hate to do the whole night-before routine if school isn't on.

It's always tricky to tell. Usually, they make a statement by 4 am the day of.

So I'd just check the MCPS page for updates.

Howard and Anne Arundel are closed..they are east of here but still not a good sign. Looking at the pepco outage map there are still many outages in the Wheaton SS area

Too bad MCPS always does.

Cmon, this is getting foolish. Why not make a call now and stand by it? Especially since it's the first day of school!! I'm assuming classes are cancelled, even though I wish they weren't. But either way, I'd rather have certainty - my kids are going to be counting on an extra day of vacation; meanwhile one of my neighbors seemed totally stunned that there was any possibility of a cancellation.

It's almost to the point of being passive aggressive.

I am hoping they can put a high priority on the schools and get them done over night..or get the numbers down low enough for the county to be open with a few exceptions. That would be a justification for waiting..

No decision yet? this is officially ridiculous.

Why don't they just open all schools that have power (presumably 90% of them) and close the one or two that don't?

So we have to go to sleep not knowing? What about people that need to make childcare. Arrangements if there is no school?
Anonymous
Every other county is closing schools. What are the chances the MoCo is going to be the only one open. They really do need to make the announcement with enough time for people to make arrangements.

We just got an automated call listing a bunch of schools that were closed without power as of now, but the list will be updated in the AM.
