Hello,
I would like to have one of my parents evaluated for dementia/Alzheimer's, and I was wondering if anyone had any physician recommendations in the Bethesda area. I'm assuming it would be a neurologist. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. |
| We took my father to Dr. Satinsky in Rockville for his Alzheimers diagnosis and care. Seemed like he knew his stuff. |
| OP here: Thank you for the recommendation. |

I highly recommend Dr. Trey Sunderland who specializes in geriatric neurology. His office is in Chevy Chase (same building as the Cheesecake Factory). He is (was?) a researcher at NIH but also a warm, easy to talk to therapist. His number is 301.654.0481.
Most psychiatrists/neurologists perform what's called a "mini mental", a general assessment of cognitive decline. My mom's more thorough, formal assessment was done by Dr. Richard Filson. His office is on Wisc. Ave and his number is 202.333.5670. Best of luck. Hope your parents are only having senior moments! |
