experience with autism classrooms at DCPS

I am considering the possibilty of placing my child in a DCPS autism classroom. Does anyone have any experience...negative or positive? Are the children mainstreamed or is it just a "goal" that is never attained?

How old is youd child? Check out Walker Jones EC - I don't have first hand experience, but I hear that they have great early childhood programs, with inclusion.

Try to get posted to Little Leaves. They are not yet accredited but they are really amazing. I visited Hearst 2 years ago and was not impressed then, but they have more experience now.

My son was in a self-contained last year and is mainstreamed again this year. Another kid in his autism class was Mostly mainstreamed lat year with oversight from the autism teacher and another kid was going into mainstreamed this year for middle school. My feeLing was that they absolutely have the goal of mainstreaming. If nothing else, it's cheaper for them.
