We were doing injectible back to back IUIs August 18 and 19. We did the IUI on the 18th, but had to cancel the 19th because sperm was not good enough. We had sex on the 18th after the IUI. On Tuesday night (so I suppose 5dpo), I started spotting (brownish). Wed/Thur, red blood, though only when I go to the bathroom (only used a panty liner). Friday, scant blood again. I have been 29 days like clockwork my entire life, so this is too early for AF. We did a trigger on Wednesday the 17th, and an u/s on the 19th, so I know I ovulated 3 of the follicles (there were five). I had a lot of ovary pain and tender breasts too, those first few days. Does this count as AF and if so, how to restart the counting? We are going to take a break for a couple of months since this would have been our third IUI.
Sounds potentially like implantation bleeding - I'd wait another couple days and then take a pregnancy test.
Thank you. I really want it to be implantation bleeding, but this really is more like a light period. We really had reached that "ok, we are done with this for awhile" after the second IUI was canceled because I overstimulated, felt lousy, sperm sample was so bad, etc., etc. We thought there is no way we could have gotten pregnant, since the first IUI the sperm was just so so post wash. I called a nurse who said this is common and to most likely just a result of all of that excess hormone, i.e. early shedding of the lining. In any case, I thought implantation was just a few tiny spots. I don't want to get my hopes up because it has been disappointment after disappointment for 2.5 years. Is it possible to have a period five days after ovulation because of all of the hormones from the injectibles?
It's hard to say - are you on progesterone? It would be a very short luteal phase if you did in fact already get your period - and progesterone usually prevents that from occurring. If this doens't work, have you considered moving on to IVF next? The odds are so much better and it's not much more work if you are already doing the injectables. I have every finger and toe crossed for you - this process is so hard.
This has been the hardest thing we have ever faced. I was really bloated and possibly overstimulated so the doctor did not give me progesterone ( though she did last two times). My LP has always been 14 to 15 days with injectible meds being the only new factor. We are unexplained so this has been even harder. Meds have given me great follicles, etc and still no luck so we likely have to move to IVF. So frustrating that it fails even when everything looks great! We booked a three week holiday at the end of September and will reevaluate then. Thanks for the support!
Took a HPT on Saturday and Tuesday, both BFN. I think today is 14DPO, so I guess I should be expecting AF tomorrow morning. Just not sure if I should still be expecting AF given bleeding last week. I think I will try again this weekend with my last test. Ugh! Anyone else going through this agony?
OP here. Bumping this back up since I really have no idea what to think/expect and I wonder if any of you have gone through this. As you can see from the history, failed IUIs August 18-19, bleeding for three days on August 23-26 which the doctors said was not a period, and to date, no period and no sign of a period. DH has noticed darkening of my nipples, though to date all tests are BFN. Is it really possible to just totally miss a period? Has this happened to any of you? Went from being totally regular to having no idea what my body is doing! Would really appreciate any thoughts from anyone who has gone through this.
Have you had a blood pregnancy test, or just HPTs?
I had a blood test Sept 5, BFN. Another blood test Sept. 14, BFN. Since then, I have been only using HPTs.
And still no period??? Wow. Have you asked them to do a u/s to see what's going on in there?
Nope. Nothing. Just landed in the U.S. After traveling for 24 hours. Going to give it until Monday and if no period go in.
