Four seasons nevis

We are considering this for a trip this winter -- we would bring the kids, ages 3 and 6. Any experience with this place? It gets great reviews.

I've never been there, but I would LOVE to go. I know people who have been with their kids and they LOVED it (they went 3 years in a row when their kids were young (ie: before the oldest started kindergarten and they no longer wanted to yank kids out of school for vacation). I remember reading a piece on it in Architectural Digest years ago and the photos were so beautiful. It looks amazing. I wish I could afford it

We are also looking to go here this winter with our 6 month year old, but it seems very difficult to get to with two flights and a boat ride.

I hear the spa is incredible. I really enjoyed a trip to St. Barst and Saba nearby - how bad could it be?

We went there on our honeymoon many years ago and it was great. We have talked about going back once our youngest is 3 (they have a kids program for 3 and up). I don't remember there being many kids there when we went, but I also wasn't really looking for them.

It did take a while to get there -- pretty much an all-day trip. The boat ride was nice though.

We went there one Easter and it is beautiful but very expensive. A friend of ours has a house on the 4 Seasons property in Nevis and we stayed at the Hotel. Lovely. I heard that Kelly Ripa used to have a house there. Many huge money people have houses on the property.

Can anyone comment on kids programs or dining options?

The island in general is very expensive, among the most expensive of the carribbean islands to which we've traveled (st lucia, grenada, bahamas, jamaica, dr, pr, t&c, cayman). The beach and resort are beautiful. Lots of monkeys on the golf course!! for a night out wo kids, try Montpelier plantation. There is a restaurant in all the books on the beach that is recommended (some guys name, I can't remember, sunnys maybe?) DONT GO. our guide told us that this guy always tries to rip off tourists, upcharge, etc, and sure enoug that's what happened. They were smoking pot too. We just wanted to get out of there! Great hiking on the mountain, great spa. Beach and water area is beautiful and I found the island to be very kid friendly.

It is very very expensive but beautiful.

St, Kitts is on the same land mass no? I wonder if it is similarly expensive.

St. Kitts is the next door island.

We thought the beach was not very beautiful, not the clear blue you expect from the caribbean...

I would definitely NOT recommend the Four Seasons Nevis for a trip with kids. There is very little to do at the FS for kids (or adults for that matter) and not much, if anything, to do off the resort. My active DH was bored to tears on our trip there- the kids would have gone nuts had they been with us. While the FS is beautiful, I agree with PP that the beach is not. There are very few dining options on the island and the nice restaurant at the FS is not a place you'd want to take your kids. Nevis is a difficult place to travel to. We flew through Miami to St. Kitts (nicknamed "St. Pitts BTW), then took a boat to Nevis. Honestly, I'm not sure I would take my kids there (or even go back) if the trip were free.
