Dentist to fill cavities

Anonymous
My son is 4 with ASD, and needs to have 3 cavities filled. Are there any dentists that will do this in their office with laughing gas? Our dentist referred us to the dental department at Children's Hospital - would rather not have it done at a hospital, if possible, but can't imagine doing this without sedation....We are located in Arlington.

I know for a fact that our dentist, Dr. Valerie Woo sees patients with ASD. I cannot speak to whether she uses gas in her office, but it's worth a try to call them. My son has HFA, and three times has sat willingly for his cleaning, which I NEVER thought he would do. The staff there is great. He did refuse an x-ray the last two times, but she did not make a big thing of it.

Only downside, they are in Ashburn.

Wherever you decide to go, please make sure to get the enamel fillings...they're worth it. Plus, no added mercury!!

Dr. Amy Light's practice in Potomac Village. Perhaps not convenient, but beltway to a srptraight shot out River Road.

DS with AS has had 5-6 fillings (white enamel) in the last 20 months (soft teeth on my side) there.

Choice of scents (bubble gum, grape, etc.) for "nose-shapped" mask to deliver the nitrous. That plus glasses and a movie on the ceiling...DS has no idea to this day that he's had novacane(sp) or been drilled.

We have been very happy there.

Sorry. iPad not cooperating.

"straight shot out River Road" to Falls Road intersection. Big parking lot. Good practice atmosphere. You will be able sit in the same room with your child. (And, there are prize tokens afterwards for DC to look forward to!)

Another vote for Amy Light's practice. Another DDS (Dr. Benitez) in her practice did our son's and she was super quick which I really appreciated because our son didn't even like the nose mask for the gas. Good luck, OP. This was really hard on us.
