UVA/W&M for VA resident attending MD or DC HS?

Anonymous
I have seen all the posts about how hard it is to get into UVA from NOVA high schools. Wondering if that is equally true if you live in VA but attend a private school in DC or MD? Presumably there will be somewhat fewer classmates applying to the VA state schools, but I wonder if the student is still treated as a NOVA student and essentially competing against all the NOVA kids, including the TJ kids? What about at W&M? Thanks for any info.

It's equally difficult for any student coming for Northern VA.

Honestly,if you want your kid to go to UVA or W&M, try Nova for two years. After he/she gets their Associates with a 3.3 they have guaranteed admission.

I'd just be embarrassed to send my DC To NOVA after attending a top DC prep school. No one goes to NOVA from the top private schools in DC. Don't mean to sound like a snob but it's true..

This is the cruel joke that is living in a good school district in NOVA or MD or sending your kid to a fancy private. Guess what? The kids from the hood in Hampton Roads have a much better shot at getting into UVA or W&M than our kids will.
