| Who do you use to hem your child's uniform pants etc... (or do you do it yourself). I'm OK at sewing, but not great. So, I'm looking for someone who does alterations that would leave enough length so I can have pants let down as DS grows this year. |
| You can go to most malls they usually have an alterations business or go to a cleaners, most of them have people who do alterations. |

I do the hemming on my daughter's uniform myself, but like the previous poster said, pretty much any cleaners will have a tailor of some sort. Zips tends to be very quick with simple alterations and they are reasonable. If you can find a local tailor/seamstress though, I'm sure they'd appreciate the business too. It's tough to make a go of it in that field these days.

| At my DS's school they've started to allow codpieces to be sewn into the pants and my DD's school is allowing tube tops this year. Yippee. |

When I was in school, back in the day, we were actually tought how to knit and sow anc crotchet. I never learned to do lace though, but my grandmother taught me one day
Are the fancy privates really not doing anything to teach kids basic crafts? Does your son know how to sand wood? |
| Seriously? Staples are for shortening your private school skirts. Or rolling up. Sheesh. |
| Hem tape is an easy solution. It comes in either stick on, or iron on varieties. It's removable and you won't have to cut anything. |
yes, seriosly. OR do you let your kids go to school with pants way to long or way to short. Sorry if I want to make sure my kids pants fit properly. DS's school does not allow pants to be rolled up. |
| Yes I guess my kids clothes are too long as long as they don't drag on the floor he wears them but I would not let him wear clothes that are too short. |
| I use our dry cleaner for simple alterations like this. |
| Does your dry cleaner leave room for the hem to be taken out and the pants let down when your child grows? Mine does not--which is why we did not go there this year. |
Oh wow, you took that post seriously? Sorry, I was kidding! You will learn one day that the middle and upper school girls shorten their kilts with staples. |
