Would you serve coq au vin to kids (5-8)?

Not sure if this is a suitable dinner for younger kids. I made it, and I think the alcohol boiled off, but how can I be sure?

I certainly would serve to my kids. But, I might double-check with other parents before serving it to theirs.

I would absolutely serve it to my 4 year old.

I'd serve it to them but they probably wouldn't eat it.

That's what I was thinking.

Absolutely. Probably half of the meals I cook contain alcohol. It evaporates so that the finished dish is not alcoholic. DS, 3, loves to eat stir fries with Chinese wine, tomato sauce with red wine (or vodka), bolognese with white wine, beef stew with beer, coq au vin with brandy, etc etc. The only thing I would not serve him is desserts made with alcohol, for obvious reasons.

Absolutely. But then again my kids think olives are a food group and my MIL marvels that they eat the vegetable crudite at parties. In other words, they ain't normal (as my BIL would say).

Yes the alcohol cooks off.

Yep, we would definitely serve it (and other dishes made with alcohol, like beef bourguignon). Like others, kids may not eat it, but I would not worry about the alcohol content.

Thanks. I ended up freezing it because we don't know the other family that well. I'll bring it out when it's just close friends.
