DC Public and Public Charter Schools
| Anyone know about this? |
| I think you need to be more specific. When, what grade. Latin now stretches from 5th to 12th with a couple of math teachers a grade. I would not be surprised if independent schools try to hire our teachers away. They're excellent. A good reminder to the Latin community to be extra appreciative and supportive of our teachers as we begin a new school year. |
| Greg Goles, going to WIS 6-8 I think. |

I haven't heard of him. Was he slated to teach this year and left of a sudden?. I'm sorry. The teachers my child has this year look amazing. I hope your child has a good experience.
For the teachers who stay (we have a handful who go back to the founding of the school) a small portion of the annual PA dues goes towards a teacher appreciation at the holidays and a nice year-end celebratio. Parents can also send items to the potluck teacher appreciation lunches held a few times during the year. I hope lots of families do what they can towards helping out with these gestures this year. I think acts like these bring people closer and encourage retention. I hope things work out with your math teacher situation. The math teacher in 8th last year was amazing, and she is not the person you mention. |
It appears that he taught Upper School math. I haven't heard any ripples around this, and my kid's in the US. I think it's pretty normal for teachers to come and go occasionally. I wish him luck and let's hold on to the great teachers we've got. Stop poaching WIS!

My DC is in 7th and he said that he had a sub in math since the math teacher left.
Latin has a very strong math program. I can see why WIS would poach a great teacher. I just wish it weren't my child's. |
