Replacement windows: Your recommenations please!

Where did you get them, who installed them, and how much did they cost? I'm leaning toward Andersen; do you recommend another? We're looking specifically for casement, as they style of the home is pretty modern.

Thanks!

I think Anderson are vinyl. Vinyl is gives off toxic fumes and is not great for the environment. It won't hurt your kids like lead paint, but if you're trying to go "green" Anderson is not the way.

Look for fiberglass or aluminum-clad wood instead. Fiberglass has the longest life, never needs painting and is exceptionally energy efficient. Geld-wyn (sp?) is one brand and I know there are others. If you live near Chevy Chase, TW Perry has some samples out to look at (including Anderson). Their website may also just name the brands to check out.

Anderson carries all materials window frames and doors. They are actually best known for their wood casements.

I did vinyl and got the exterior "wrapped". No maintenance.
