| I was going through some things my mom gave me and I found an envelope with my ponytail from when I was five and I had it all cut off. I was shocked to see it was medium ash brown. I have been coloring my hair since I was 14 years old. Unless I shave it all off and let it grow back I will never see my natural color again. When my mom went through chemo, she let her hair grow back natural, and it was dark brown and beautiful. We talked her into never coloring it again. I think I will do the same now. I will just have to live with calico hair for a while! |
| Just like you I had no idea what my haircolor was. At 13 my mom told me I had mousey brown hair and I should try highlighting it. 20 months ago I decided to stop the insanity. I took a guess based on my roots that my hair was a chocolate brown. I had them dye it back that color and proceeded to grow it out. Fast forward twenty months, just this week I was able to chop off all the old processed hair. Finally have a full head of my natural color hair. It feels so healthy and I feel so liberated. |

My natural color was blah and unflattering, that's why I started coloring it.
Don't expect your five year old color to return. My hair got a lot darker at puberty, and by my mid 30s was half grey. You were probably in the sun a lot more as a kid too Having kids also changes hair for a lot of people, and I know someone whose hair color drastically changed after a car accident. |

Hah! My hair was white blond up until about age 10, when it started getting darker. I see women my age (close to 40) trying to replicate it, and it just makes them look like 80 year old white-haired women.

| Based on the pics my hair started dark blond when I was 2, by age 4 it was red, by age 7 dark brown and light brown until I started using henna at age 20. at 25 I started highlights and just 3 weeks ago I went to the grocery store and found something to match my "dark blond" roots. It looks boring but I hope soon I'll be able to get to chop off the treated hair. |
| I have never once in my life colored my hair and hope I don't have to start anytime soon! |
| Yes, I always try to go very close to my natural color. Unfortunately, genetics worked against me and I had to start coloring it at 18, after getting some grey (I am in my late 30s now) |
Same for me. |
| I've never colored my hair either ( I'm naturally dark blackish-brown). I always laugh at my dyed blonde friends who convince themselves that they are natural blondes. Just because you were blond at age 5 like most children does not mean you are a natural blonde! |
Same here! Got gray way too early and could not stand it. Now, looking at my roots, it is everywhere, and super coarse on top of that. ugh! |
| My natural hair color is chestnut brown but now at 40 I'm salt-and-pepper and color it. I'm so sick of it and am contemplating going grey, like my mom always did. I worry about years of chemicals on my scalp! |

Yes, I do. I stopped coloring my hair years ago.

| Yup, I've had lighter highlights but never changed the whole base color. I'm 45. |
| Yep, I just need to look at my 2 inch long roots! |
