Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
| Any recommendations for something along Connecticut Avenue in this stretch that is priced like Chipotle but offers another kind of healthy/healthier menu? We're getting tired of Chipotle. We're looking for something that is open at dinner-time. Thank you. |
| If you go 5 minutes further from Kensington down to Wheaton there are a hundred places that are priced like Chipotle but are actual family owned restaurants with good food. Saigonesse is a great little Vietnamese place, Nava Thai is wonderful, Ren's Ramen is also top notch (they actually import their Ramen noodles from Japan). |

THere is a Chinese restaurant near UDC that has an entire section of the menu sans MSG, sodium, oils, etc.
It has less than zero ambiance but surprisingly good food. And I almost loathe Chinese American fare. http://www.yelp.com/biz/chalins-restaurant-washington-2 |

We like Rice Paddies Grill, a little Pho place in downtown Bethesda. It's quite cheap.
A family favorite of ours is to treat Whole Foods like a restaurant. They have a day when Roast Chickens are quite cheap, for example, and you can buy that and a vegetable side and some nice bread for a reasonably priced dinner. Or you can buy something like those Amy's Kitchen's meals and heat them in the microwave there. You have to be careful, because dinner at Whole Foods can be very reasonable . . . or not. There's not a lot of in between. You can also make healthy choices at Panera, although there are also many unhealthy choices there too. |
| Cava Grill in Bethesda. Nando's Peri Peri is also opening soon in Bethesda. |
