since it is none of our business. |
Oh surely you would have been in favor of telling Hitler to step down. No? |
I really think that publicly telling other nations to do certain things is mostly a propaganda tool that is used to legitimize our leadership in the eyes (ears) of our gullible citizens and also tries to get ahead of inescapable political developments elsewhere by proclaiming to those populations that we are actually on the side of right. It just projects the notion that we are great and good and that when we speak others listen.
That's why after supporting a guy like Mubarak for decades, when the US govt realizes that he is going to be toppled no matter what we want, we suddenly tell the world a couple of days before it happens that we think he's a tyrant and should go. A lot of people here fall for this every time. Foreigners generally know what's going on in their own countries and aren't as easily fooled. |
When other world leaders call the US the Great Satan or call for our leaders to step down, we get all up in arms. Some leaders, e.g., Castro, are still going strong and have resisted all calls by US leaders to step aside. It is, as noted, nothing more than political rhetoric so their opponent(s) can't say they are soft on Communism, dictators, whatever. |
No, it actually puts pressure on these politicians. I'm sure that sometimes it is piling on the loser, but a lot of times it is not. If it is a nation where we have leverage, it directly affects events. And if it is one in the other camp, it lets them know we won't interfere if they take action. Lastly, it is the last step before engaging and therefore legitimizing the opposition if we should choose to do that. |
I hope someone tells Obama to step down because his policies are harming his people. |
This will be accomplished either at the Democratic National Convention or on the first Tuesday of Nov. 2012. |
Oops. I know it is Democrat but it sounds awkward to say Democrat Nat. Converntion. |
Jesus, you guys are such infantile, whiney namecallers. And you have to apologize for your momentarily lapse in doing and saying everything Sean Hannity says. Seriously - I don't know how you're not more embarrassed. |
Do you really think the fact that he has not solved the (world-wide) economic problem is comparable to sending the army to gun down citizens, as Assad has done? And "the Democrat Party" is a GOP usage; so if you are a Republican, you probably should follow the party line and use it. Otherwise you should follow common courtesy and call the Democratic Party by the name it prefers. |
Bored are we, OP? Looking for more negative attention from the liberals? Must be hard to just relax and enjoy yourself. Nope, you gotta get into a fight. They have medication for that you know. |
speaking of which, ya think Hilary will run? Sorry to hijack, but I am the OP. |
Oh, how I wish she would but I don't think so. In fact, she looks pretty exhausted and didn't she say that she would not want another four years as Sec. of State. |
I might be if I knew what the hell you are ranting about. FYI, I have never watched Sean Hanniry. |
