Unemployment continues to rise and Obama is off to MV today

Yay! This man works so hard he needs more time off. Such a hard worker. The country is in great shape, take some time off sir.
"President Obama leaves today for a 10-day summer vacation on Martha's Vineyard but once again faces Republican criticism that he's taking time off while the country faces tremendous problems, the Boston Globe reports. The Chicago Sun Times notes that this is Obama's ninth vacation since taking office and has spent all or part of 38 days on vacation away from the White House. He has also made 14 visits to Camp David spanning all or part of 32 days, for a total of 70 days. In contrast, former President George W. Bush, at this point in his first term, had made 14 visits to his Texas ranch spanning all or part of 102 days and also made 40 visits to Camp David spanning all or part of 123 days. His vacation total at this point in his presidency was all or part of 225 days away." |

I can attest that it is fun to be affluent and few of us really care too much about the plight of the laid off sheet metal worker. |

Obama has vacationed for 61 days. At this point as pres, Reagan had taken 121; GWB-200 (CBS tally)
The man works a lot harder than Republicans. He deserves some time off. |

If he didn't take the time off and worked all of the time, he would be a "bad father and husband" and the Republicans would slam him for his crappy "family values."
If he takes it off, he is a slacker. He cannot win, so I think he might as well lose in MV. |

Crap, I am heading to MV next week with a bunch of friends. Wish I had know before I book the trip - place is going to be a zoo.
BTW, does anyone on here really think that Obama will not be working the entire time he is "away". |

He could stay in DC and take a "vacation" and do Burning Tree everyday etc but still have the American public see that the president decided to stay in Washington because at a time like this when the country is scared and hurting their LEADER is still here. That's what he isn't. A leader. |

Because Reagan was so great? He was a smooth talker and actor, but sucked at policies. Who do you think CREATED trickle down economics? Should be coined VOO DOO economics (GB 1). Who gives a shit about a bunch of congressmen? This is the PRESIDENT of the country. A totally different level of expectation of leadership. Does he want to go back to being a congressman or Senator with very low bars of accountability? You compare the president with a congressman and you've made my point. Not up to the immense task of being the leader of the USA. Please let him be one and done. |
