oval le crueset

Anonymous
Hi all,

I just bought a 4 qt. le crueset oval pot (mainly b/c it was on sale!). Now I am thinking - what will I cook in it? It is oval, so odd shaped to put on the range to cook, and I don't do a lot of in the oven cooking. Any ideas of what to cook in an oval shaped pot? does shape matter?

thanks!

Lamb tangine, coq au vin, um... lots of stuff. Didn't you get a cookbook with it?

Pot roast--anytime you need to sear the meat before covering it and putting it in the oven to cook for a long time. Stews and soups. No-knead bread. Baked beans. The oval shape isn't a big deal on the range because the cast iron conducts heat very well.

If you don't know what to cook with it. Why did you buy it to begin with?

Brisket! I always cook mine in a round Le Crueset and wished I had the oval one.

I just bought a 9 qt Le Crueset dutch oven-had to get one big enough to roast a chicken. . .yum!
