Karyotype testing?

Has anyone had this done? What does the RE do with the results? How does it affect treatment going forward? Anyone BTDT?

Karyotype just means they get a picture of your chromosomes. Primarily they do it if you have had miscarriages and they didn't figure out why. Basically they'll just look to see if your chromosomes look normal and want to rule out that you are what is called a balanced translocation carrier. It would involve a blood test for you and for DH.

My husband and I just did this. It's a simple blood test that takes several weeks to process. Our tests were normal, but the Dr. mentioned that if one of us had an "issue" we would discuss the option of moving onto IVF with pregestational genetic testing.

We had this done because I had 2 miscarriages back to back.
