Food, Cooking, and Restaurants
| I am looking for a gluten free cook-out menu for a family we are having over. They have two kids and the mom cannot eat gluten..last time they were over I made a Mediterranean menu-kabobs, hummus, grilled fish...I want to make food that would appeal to everyone... |
| We had a gluten free bbq - lobster tails (look up Giada DeLaurentis's recipe), corn on the cob, potato salad, green been and tomato salad. Another idea would be grilled chicken/steak for fajitas. You can get gluten free tortillas and chips. Guacamole, salsa, black beans, rice, sour cream, cheese, etc. |
| thanks, great ideas! |
This sounds great just be careful if you are using store-bought fajita seasonings as many of them have gluten in them. |

We're gluton free and grill all of the time. I'm having a hard time thinking about what you would grill that WOULD have gluton in it...
Just be careful about what seasonings/sauces/dressings you use and all should be well. We mainly grill: Steaks, Fish, Vegetables (onions, peppers, squashes, asparagus, etc). Then serve salads as an appetizer and fresh fruit with real whipped cream (as in, hand whipped) for dessert. We don't really do hamburgers but I suppose you can grill some patties and then just put fresh salsa (I recommend WF's freakin fresh salsa) on top. No ketchup. |

PP, ketchup is gluten free. All the Celiac sources say distilled vinegar is fine.
Just be sure to clean your grill well if you typically put your buns on your grill to toast them. Or you can always cook food on foil, but it will lack grill marks. I like hot dogs, corn on the cob, tuna steaks, vegetables, etc. |
| I'm also gluten free and we cook redskin potatoes on our grill. I quarter the potatoes with skins on, cook them halfway in the microwave, toss them with olive oil, kosher salt and fresh rosemary and then stick them on the grill. They come out with crunchy outsides and smooth and creamy on the inside. Yummy. |
