Listen, do you really think that we all believe that you can not translate what a family sticker on a car or need to understand why someone wear a different type shoe? Starting a sentence with please explain is one of those annoying little back handed jabs that clearly means "I am a putz and I need express my disapproval of whatever. I also have way to much time on my hands to be worried about these things..how about you? Will you be my friend, please pleas, please."
It reminds me of my nasty aunt who always says "Well, I don't want to judge but..." and out comes something that makes everyone roll their eyes. |

I agree, it's almost as bad as ending a post with "not trying to be snarky, I'm truly curious..."
I will take your advice and title my next a-hole post with, "I am a putz and I need express my disapproval of ..." |

Whatever bitchy lady supreme. I'm with the OP - people on here are super bitchy and awful all the time, and the posts they create that are thinly veiled judgmental bitchiness are the worst. Yes everyone realizes it, she just wanted to say it out loud. Now go away with your, "I'm going to come up with some new way to put the OP down by suggesting she is slow" attitude. It really does you no favors. |

I think when people end a comment with "just sayin'" they are trying to give themselves permission to be a bitch.

Every other day I see a post decrying the horrible meanness on these boards, and it's obvious that those posters just don't get it. Anonymity is a big part of what makes this board fun and valuable, but when you take away the veil of politeness and the fear of embarassment, there is going to be a certain amount of negativity as well. I HAVE to imagine that anyone with half a brain views the bitchy comments for purely entertainment purposes and does not actually take them personally. But since we're on the topic of things we don't understand, what I can't understand is why people bother to write boring posts about this over and over and over. And over. You do realize you're not going to change the whole culture of DCUM to meet your personal preferences, right? If you would be more comfortable in a more civilized, polite environment (and I'm not saying that doesn't have its advantages), it seems much more logical to find a new forum than to waste your time whining about the way things are here. Lots of people like it the way it is, but that doesn't mean you have to. It just seems insane to keep coming back to a forum that upsets you. |

I'm the putz, I mean OP from the platform shoe post and I really didn't understand the look and now I do. It's a 1940's inspired update to the pump. I can accept that and now they don't look stripper-ish to me.
Another shoe look I don't understand is a sandle with a really heavy angle attachment...often in leather. HA! I have that shoe (the thong / ankle wrap shoe) in a khaki color and really like it. It's very comfortable, the leather is soft and giving, and the toe strap doesn't hurt. (the brand I have is not target - but looks just like it). I really like it. Fashion is not meant to be understood by all. Take comfort in knowing that you are not alone in being baffled by it! |
