Schools more accepting of gay kids

Anyone have any advice. Looking for a private high school for my DD who is gay. Catholics out obviously.

There are several girls who are out in my DD's class at NCS (and I'm not PP). Also teachers.

I think the best school for OP's DD will depend on other factors as well. Does she want a more progressive school? What are her interests?

In this case, I think public is the way to go. They're larger, more diverse (in most cases), and have gay alliances.

Ditto. They have a gay-straight alliance as well. The school's philosophy is focused on acceptance in general.

Many of the city schools (Sidwell, WIS, Maret, Georgetown Day, Field, Burke) would be welcoming.

Maybe I'm off base here but might bullying be more prevalent at publics due to the larger size/reduced sense of community?

Since the OP posted here they are probably looking for a private rather than a public school. Otherwise they would have posted this on the Public school forum
