Preschool and Daycare Discussion
| My beloved in home day care provider will be going on vacation for 3 weeks. My husband and I don't have the vacation available to stay home and no family in the area. What options are there for temporary daycare? |
|
1. Ask DCP if she has fellow DCP friends with open space. 3 weeks is a long time to be gone without arranging for a replacement - how far in advance did she announce this?
2. Ask friends with nannies and compatible kids if they would be ok doing a share for a few weeks. 3. Nanny placement agencies. 4. Backup daycare services via your employer (Bright Horizons is often the provider). 5. Fly in a relative - probably worth if for three weeks. |
| Just thought of another - if your DCP has a helper, see if she would be willing to watch your kid at your house. When my DCP went on vacation, her aide watched 2-3 of the kids on her own. |
| When I was in a similiar situation, I was able to find a temporary spot at a local Kindercare. They usually only require a 2 week notice. In addition, because it summer and some kids may be on vacation, they are more likely to have temporary spots. |

We do not take a vacation time off at our daycare and have occasionally space available for the temporarily care during last two weeks of August. Please feel free to contact me directly at 301-828-5258.
