Which neighborhood. All the schools are pretty good and they all pretty much offer the same curriculum, it is standardize thru the county. The students are the main thing that changes with the different schools.

We're looking at neighborhoods that feed into Centennial, River Hill, Glenelg and quite possibly Reservoir and Atholton.

I do like Riverside for its proximity to 29 and it neighborhood feel. Atholton, correct?

Glenelg sort of reminds me of Damascus in that it is so far out, but the land out there is beautiful.

HoCo dweller here. Yes - Rivers Edge is Atholton and I agree - I like that neighborhood.

You should also check hcpss website on redistricting- my current understanding is it is not planned until 2015. Every June they release a report of what "polygons" might change. Am only saying this to note that if you have your heart set on particular school, know that its possible it could change.

Thanks for actually pointing that out. I told my husband that with Reservoir added to the mix, I noticed that some homes I like - zoned for River Hill - have Lime Kiln as their middle school feeder. I suspect that it's an easy way to redraw lines - that if you're now at Lime Kiln, Reservoir will be your new high school. I get it; I recognize that they try to balance out socioeconomics, but it can cause pockets of parents to stir the pot. I've seen them do this again and again in Mo Co, and living in northern Silver Spring in the Northeast Consortium, we live it! So while the areas around River Hill are gorgeous, I think we may rather find a high school that's already naturally balanced b/c it pulls from a true feeder pattern.

Thanks again!

we may prefer - I should say - to find a high school that's already naturally balanced b/c it pulls from a true feeder pattern
