Who can teach my 7 year old to run and jump

Anonymous
I need some recommendations for this. My child has fairly mild dyspraxia. He does not have proper running and jumping form. Unlike NT kids, he cannot seem to teach himself. He has graduated from
private OT and PT. I think what I need is a movement specialist or kinesiologist who can work with him one-on-one. Any thoughts?

Fitness for Health in Rockville. "Sports therapy." They work with a lot of kids with motor planning issues in a more mature way than OT.

You could also try a yeast/fungus cleanse. My child became much more clear-headed and agile once we cleared yeast from his system.

I'm sorry. I can't imagine this is helpful.

GMS in Manassas is wonderful for this. My DS made a lot of progress through his work with them.

Call Aaron at heightsandbeyond.com. He works with a lot of special needs kids and is amazing.

OK, so I'll clarify a bit. My son had an abnormal gate when he walked. He was also "punch drunk" and threw many tantrums with his autism. Eliminating yeast/fungus worked amazingly well. His gate corrected itself, eye-contact was better and tantrums were not as violent. Here's what yeast does to the body.....fermentation, aerobic/anaerobic respiration, and de/nitrification....do you not understand the brain/body connection? If you don't, go get drunk one night and then try to do some gymnastics, then maybe some calculus. It's all connected.

Not the PP but actually if yeast is a big problem (and you can Google the symptoms) it produces neurotoxins. So yes, clearing it from the body can improve overall functioning.

PP - can you tell me more about Aaron. I just checked out his website, but can't tell where he is located, his hours, or how much he charges. Thanks!

Aaron works in Montgomery County (he may go other places -- just ask). He runs the fitness program at the Diener School and is awesome with the kids. He also does private lessons through his company, Heights and Beyond. Charges vary. He isn't cheap but he is less expensive than Fitness for Health and he will come to your house.

Just want to second the recommendation for GMS in Manassas. They have been wonderful in helping DS improve motor coordination and (in his case) low muscle tone.

Those recommending GMS: is it the sensory integration program? Minds in Motion? PLease help me navigate this website! Thanks

We used the sensory integration program. I believe minds in motion is their school program.

This is 17:15 again. Yes, it's the SMI (sensory motor integration) program at GMS. They offer classes several days a week, usually in the afternoon.

That's funny. I was just about to recommend Aaron too. He is amazing! He also used to work with Sports Plus in Montgomery County. Kids love him. He is enthusiatic and creative with a great loving personality.
