Clomid

Did anyone get pregnant while using Clomid. If o how long were you on it before you conceived and are you having multiples? My Dr wants to put me on it and I am nervous to death about having more than one kid at a time. I currently have two little ones.

There was a previous post on this topic - you may want to search for it. Most of the posters highly recommend using Clomid only with a fertility doc as opposed to your regular ob.

Just seconding PP -- don't do Clomid with your OB. See an RE, have them do all the relevant tests and monitor you while you're on the medication. You can only do six courses in your life, so you don't want to waste any with a doctor who doesn't specialize in fertility problems.

Hmmmm...Now I'm worried after reading the replies.

I got the prescription from my OB. Lowest dosage and took from day 5 for 5 days. The reason for taking the clomid was my period cycles were so irregular.

I took it last September, got pregnant at first try. No side affects. Miscarried at 8 weeks.

Took it again in April (the same medicine), made me nauseous, cried all the time...I'm now 37 weeks pregnant.

I forgot to say, it's only one baby for both times.

PP, the issue with Clomid and why it should be taken on an RE's watch has to do with the fact that it's often misprescribed, should be prescribed only after appropriate bloodwork, and requires close ultrasound monitoring both to maximize the chances of success and guard against dangerous side effects (such as ovarian hyperstimulation). Don't worry about what's already happened -- and congratulations on your pregnancy! -- but if you decide to take Clomid to get pregnant again, do it with an RE.

I agree with other posters and recommend you see a specialist. I got pregnant on my first cycle of Clomid and had one healthy baby boy. Good luck!

I did Clomid with an RE - I was closely monitored through the entire cycle and during one visit I casually mentioned that I saw flashes of light one morning. She told me to immediately stop taking it as that was a sign of blood vessles constricting and if the symptoms continued could lead to a stroke.

Just another reason to make sure you are monitored closely.
