anyone use these? some of the reviews on amazon said they are hazardous. my mother bought some for DD but i want to hear they are safe before giving them to her. |
Not sure about the brand you mentioned but I have used Earth's Best and you REALLY have to watch your DD when she is chewing them. My DS is 9 months old and I gave him one the other day. I was thinking that it would take awhile for them to get soft so he could chew on them for a bit without a piece breaking off but not at all. I turned my head for a second and half of the biscuit broke off in his mouth and he was gagging.
I felt like the worst mother in the world--for some reason, I thought the point of teething biscuits was so they could gnaw on them and they wouldn't easily break. But these were more like cookies. I haven't given them to him since. But, again, if you closely monitor DD, they are fine. |
I don't think it's a brand issue, teething biscuits in general are a hazard. They all get soft and break off in baby's mouth.
Best solution is to not give them to baby at all or use a teething basket, messy but makes it a safer way to feed baby. http://www.diapers.com/p/Sassy-Teething-Feeder-Blue-Green-27948 |
We used and liked Healthy Times.
Having said that, I thikn "teething biscuits" is a real misnomer. They are all potentially dangerous. I didn't give them until later, almost as cookies when DCs could really handle them. |
Yeah, I first gave my son a teething biscuit when he was 15 months. |
We liked the Healthy Times biscuits. There was no way my kid could have bitten into it, but I also would not have left him unattended with it either. Be warned, they are MESSY, because the kid ends up basically just sucking on it and it dissolves and gets everywhere. For that reason, we didn't use them much. We liked Mum-Mums better, and they melt much more easily in the mouth. |
I agree its not a brand issue vs. teething issue. We had the same experience as the other posters. I would never touch them again. Cheerios work much better. |
