| Love this show! Like watching a car wreck. Also, it makes me clean up and de-clutter and throw things out. |
| I watch that and Intervention but I don't know why. They make me cry. So much pain and sadness. That said, Hoarders does make me want to declutter too! |
| Yep, totally makes me want to throw out everything I don't need. Sickly fascinating. |

Same here. I can't stop watching and having schadenfreude, as in "Well, my house looks like a showplace compared to that." Keeps me and my junk in check.
What I don't get is that most of them don't have working plumbing and sometimes don't have electricity and/or heat. WTH? How can you live like that? Especially the lack of plumbing. Did you see the one wear the woman just wore Depends and after they were soiled just threw them in the bathroom like it was a gigantic Diaper Genie? OMG. |
| Above I meant WHERE, not wear |
|
Yes! There was so much urine soaked Depends that it ate through the floor: Big Hole. OMG.
My sil told me this show was the incentive for her to clean out her house for open houses when they put it on the market. Made me clean and throw out all the crap in our basement. They are doing a public service. If I need an incentive to clean, I watch episodes on Netflicks. Love the new season too. |
| Does anyone else wonder if any of their neighbors' houses look like the ones on the show? |
| Actually, when social services or the local ASPCA comes in and has to clean-up after these people it costs a fortune so it's not that funny. It's also not funny if you share a wall with one and end up with termites or rats. Trust me, I have firsthand experience here. The worst offenders are the ones who hoard animals. WTF? Those shows are the worst - half of the animals end up being euthanized and the ones that make it have all kinds of health and socialization issues. This is terrible but I think thathoarders should have their homes taken from them if they cannot afford to pay for the damage they cause. |
| Do you guys watch the A&E or the TLC? I like TLC better.. |
| 20:49, no one here said it was "funny." It's morbidly fascinating. The episodes with animals are terrible. I saw one where the clean up people found a dead cat... it was literally FLAT and mummified under all the junk. |
| I like A&E better. It's more comprehensive about what happened in any given hoarders situation. |
| I like A&E better too. I can't get past the '80s documentary sounding voiceover guy on the TLC version. |
| Who hoards rats though? So bizarre |
Don't most of the rats show up because of the hoarding? |
|
There were two episodes on A&E where the hoarder hoarded rats. One was a cancer patient who used to raise them to sell as pets but the rats were gone by the time the cleaning took place and weren't on tv. Another episode had a guy who hoarded rats, lots of them all running free in his house. He loved them.
There were other hoarders who hoarded rabbits, chickens as well as the usual cats and dogs. Pretty sick. |
