What's for dinner tonight?

We have having a friend and her 11yo DD to dinner, and I'm stumped as to what to make. I'd like it to be fairly simple and reasonably kid-friendly.

What's your dinner plan?

Crab cakes, mashed potatos, cabbage slaw w/ cranberries, corn on the cob, tomato/basil/mozzerella. (But my mom is cooking!) Then out for ice cream afterwards

DH is currently making trout, corn, potatoes, and a tomato and zucchini salad. That wouldn't be a menu I'd make for an 11 year old guest though!

We had steak, kaisespaetzle, and broccoli. An 11-year-old might like the spaetzle, not too sure about the other stuff.

Oops, kaesespaetzle I meant.
