Tell me about your experience w/ pilates?

Love it. Great for core strength, toning abs. Would not be helpful for losing weight or for limb toning.

I also love it. Started a few months postpartum, when my abs were non-existent. Just a couple of months later, I can do so much more...Feels great!

I agree that it's great. But, reformer classes are so expensive. If you can afford it, then go for it. If not, go to ABs classes at your gym.

I've been doing reformer classes for 10 years (actually, just took a class this morning at 6:15 am). Love it (duh, been doing it 10 years). Keep in mind that if you need to lose weight, or are interested in maintaining cardiovascular health, Pilates will help with NEITHER. Pilates is for lengthening the muscles and strengthening the core (abs and back). Pilates will also work different muscle groups (legs, arms), but that's secondary to lengthening muscles (flexibility) and strengthening the core.

I can't afford the reformer classes. But, I am pretty happy doing the mat routines for toning. If you need to lose weight and tone up. Take a jazz class that is longer than 1 hour (at a dance studio or rec center).
