My 19 month old son currently attends daycare at a center in DC. Overall, we've been happy with it, but are considering switching him to a preschool in North Arlington (where we recently moved) next fall. I've heard good things about Children's House Montessori in Arlington, but would appreciate any feedback on this or any other preschools in North Arlington. My husband and I both work full time, so a full day preschool would be ideal. However, if we found a part time program we loved, we would also consider enrolling him in that and hiring a nanny part time. Thanks for any feedback! |

Hi there. My son has been attending Children's International School in North Scott Street in Arlington, VA since September 2010. It's his first school ever and we love it there, he loves it there and it's just perfect. We used to live in Courthouse until we moved to Annandale, and because the school has just worked out for our whole family, we haven't transferred him. The owner is a wonderful lady, the director is sweet, and the teachers are qualified, attentive, and warm. They have a wonderful curriculum and do a lot of outdoor play in the backyard, which is great as opposed to most of the daycares in DC that are located in the basement of commercial or government buildings. I wouldn't know if they have any open spots, since I've seen a lot of new faces (and it's a new school year!), but it's worth a shot! Good luck!http://www.childrensinternationalschool.com/ |
We love Children's International. We currently have our 3.5 year old enrolled in the school in Alexandria, VA. Great teachers, great director, and awesome program. |
We love Children's International School as well. We attend the one one Rt 50, off George Mason. The teachers are just wonderful, warm and loving!
Good luck |
OP here. Thanks for the feedback. We'll definitely add Children's International School to the list of preschools to consider. |
Children's House was joyless for us and we left after a year. We also had real issues with safety as they would take the children out into the parking lot to ride trikes and just create "barriers" with small cones. Given the way the parking lot was configured it was far too easy for parents to come barreling into the lot before noticing that the children were out. It didn't help that the aftercare staff was sometimes so immersed in conversation among themselves that they didn't see children playing outside the cones. Hopefully some of this has changed, but make sure to ask questions about retention and see if you can talke to current and former parents. |
Was this at the Arlington Blvd location? We are considering putting DC at this location but this is a safety issue that would concern me, a dealbreaker. Thanks. |
