I saw it last time it was here (3 years ago?)Good and absolutely loved it. The reviews were mixed, but the scenery, music and plot were enjoyable to me.
There are some bits to the story that I think as a bit complex, not inappropriate, for kids probably under 5. Here some somehimg about the wizard needing to save animals... just thought little kids might gt lost in that storyline, but otherwise, I didn't think it was scary or frightening to kids. |
| how old are the kids? |
| I think the KC blurb recommends it for kids 8 and up. |
| I know people who took their 5 yo's and they loved it, but I wouldn't take mine that young. |
| Saw it last week and loved it. Left DS at home but I know he can't sit still yet for that long. There was a little girl in the audience that we heard crying though. She must've been around 5 because we saw the mom walk out with her. She kept saying 'I'm scared!!'. I think it was the big dragon above the stage and some parts with loud music. Probably depends on you kid? |

Calm down. |
| It is a great great great show. I'd bring any kids age 7-8 up that are able to sit still for 2+ hours. It is a LONG show. But a good one! |
| Surprised you all loved it. Saw it in NYC and we hated it! Didn't like the book either, so I should've known. Definitely for over 8 to 10, depending on your kid. |

My 5 year old DD loved it, as did her 6 year old BFF. Yes, it is long, but if your child loves music, singing and dancing, and you don't shoot him or her up with sugar beforehand, should be fine.
OTOH, if you know your child frightens very easily, this is probably not a show for them. |
| I thought it was good, but not great. Maybe a little better than Mary Poppins, but not as good as Lion King. |
