What are you into?

I'm all over the map, so here are my recent reads:

The Hunger Games: Juvenile (but a step up from Twilight) addictive, couldn't put down and read them back to back to back. Loved them! (I also loved the Twilight books...)

The Help: Typical popular book. Good but not great. Worth reading. Movie coming out very soon.

Water for Elephants: Another popular one. Interesting to read because it's not your typical plot or content. Better than The Help, but hated the ending. Movie is already out, I think.

The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo series: Loved them. They should have been half the size though. They are long and take a while to get through, yet they are still captivating.

The Informationist: Read on a rec from someone on DCUM. Pretty good. Similar to Dragon Tattoo books, but much faster paced. It's not a series, just the one book. Probably a better choice for a vacation read.

A Reliable Wife: Also pretty good. I can't remember when it takes place (late 1800s maybe?) but interesting and well written.

The Righteous: If you liked the show Big Love, you will love this book. It's about a murder that takes place in the heart of fundamentalist mormon territory in Utah.

Right now, I'm reading We Need to Talk About Kevin. It's really well written but very wordy. I kinda think the writer has an arrogant style of writing. But it's really interesting and my friend said it's worth battling through. It's a mother's story of a son who commits a Colubmine style shooting.

If this is the one about the woman in the room who has been kidnaped and raped and lives with her son in this room WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE RECOMMENDING THIS NIGHTMARE BOOK I READ HALF OF IT BEFORE I REALIZED THE HORROR OF WHAT I WAS READING AND WANTED TO COCKPUNCH THE KINDLE FOR RECOMMENDING IT. IT IS JUST SO HORRIBLE. Really, don't read it, you can't unread it once you have.

Calm down. Yes, the premise is gruesome but the ending is happy and the little boy's voice is so realistic. It's a tale of resilience and courage. Yeesh. And the antagonist is only present in a couple of scenes.

OP - I just finished Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand (loved it) and Water for Elephants (& Sara Gruen's other book, Ape House, which is not as good as Water for Elephants). (I've read the Dragon Tattoo books too & liked them.). Other things I read recently & liked are Little Bee & Anna Quindlen's newest one (now I forget the name of it).

I usually like popular fiction, book club kind of books, especially as vacation reading.

Thanks for all the suggestions!!

Blackout and All Clear. Two books that make up one big book. Oxford students time travel from 2060 to the Blitz in 1940 London while researching their theses. Get stuck there. Fun fun fun.
