We are leaving the rocky mtn park area tomorrow! We have been staying on the western side, but went to the estes side twice. Two good hikes on that side - start at bear lake and go to nymph and dream lakes, another .7mi to emerald if you feel up to it and check out alberta falls, also in the same area. One day make a trip to the alpine visitor's center, good wildlife watching and start the milner pass trail across the street. Round trip it's too long, but from the visitor's center you can go along an easy ridge trail for a while. We went about one or two miles to a little pond and then came back. Gorgeous views there!
