Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS)
| I was curious, if you teach in Fairfax County VA are you able to register your dependent children in the area in which you are teaching. It extremely difficult for me to send my children to a school outside of the school zone in which I will be teaching and have not yet received a clear answer concerning this matter. I ask because in most other states dependent children of teacher are able to attend schools in the zoning area where they will be teaching. |
| I am not a teacher, but all of the teachers I know with elementary and middle school-age children have their children attend school in the zone where they teach. |
|
Do you mean that you reside outside of Fairfax County or do you mean you reside in another Ffx Cnty school attendance area?
If it is the latter, then yes, you can choose to have your kids attend in the school where you teach. If it is the former, I'd be surprised if you could, but I don't actually know. |

Regulation 2230.11 Pupil Placement regulations:
3. Child of Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Employee The parent or guardian is an FCPS employee who works more than 20 hours per week, resides in Fairfax County, and is requesting a student transfer to the school in which the parent or guardian is employed or to the school nearest the employee’s work location. If the request for a student transfer is to the school in which the parent or guardian is employed, in this instance only, capacity issues will not prevent the transfer. |
| I do not reside in Fairfax county, so according to the last post, I could not have my children attend Fairfax county schools? |
| I am 17:41 - Yes, you have to live in FC to pupil place. |
| are there any other options? Some districts allow one to pay a tuition if space is available |
| yes there is but no energy to muster up to look for it. |
