Address change and DC residential parking permit

Anonymous
We're about to move and I'm wondering what will happen with our DC residential parking permits. We're moving within the same zone, but our new street isn't set up for residential parking permits. I know that means that after we move, I won't be eligible for the residential parking permit. But will our current parking permits remain valid until they expire? Or do they immediately become invalid the moment we file the address change with the DMV? I can't find anything on the DMV web site about this.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

This happened to me. Your zone parking permit is no longer valid once you move to an unzoned street and change your license.

However, I just kept the old registration sticker with the zone permit on my car until it expired, and never got a ticket. It's unlikely that Parking Enforcement would run your registration if it's not expired-- unless you are illegally parked. Of course, once it expires and you need a new registration you're SOL.
