Another orientation or school year kick off?

We went to the K orientation for our FX Cty school, but will there be another orientation night/day where we find out what happens the first day/week of school, who their teacher will be, etc?

Our two FCPS schools (both elementary) have open houses on the Thursday morning before school starts.

Ours also does an Open House, but it's on the Thursday afternoon before school starts. Class lists are posted on Wednesday and kids and parents can come by on Thursday to drop off supplies and meet teachers.

I guess I better go buy the supplies now so that I'm not scrambling that week since we are moving into a new neighborhood right before school starts...and my child starts K. Yeah, we live on the edge. I still have to take her registration papers in! At least we have a month to get everything squared away and not just a day or two.

You don't have to take supplies to the OH. Some people do just so their child doesn't have to carry them all on the first day.

Good to know. I guess I can ask the registrar these questions in person - I've already called to bug her a couple times anyway. Thank goodness she seems like a VERY nice and understanding person!

You can also take them in to the office the first week of school (or even after). The supplies are all communal so it's not like your DC will be without anything.

They recommend you bring the supplies during orientation, so you can help your kid get settled.

Lots of PTAs also sell supply kits and then have them delivered to the class room. Super easy!

OP here - thanks for all of the responses. I'll call the school to find out what exactly they are doing. Thanks for this tp. For this year, I have already been buying school supplies as they go on sale, but bringing them in during orientation is a great idea.
