Where did you grow up? The Northeast has lot of Jesuit parishes. https://www.americamagazine.org/faith/2020/03/24/here-are-jesuit-parishes-and-ministries-live-streaming-mass-every-day-week Holy Trinity Catholic Church Washington, D.C. We are a Jesuit Catholic parish that welcomes all |
^ from that link In these difficult times, priests and their lay collaborators in Jesuit ministries across the United States are offering spiritual consolation in the form of live-streaming liturgical services. Below you can find a list of Jesuit parishes and chapels and the dates/times they will be offering weekday and Sunday Mass in English, Spanish and even Polish. |
My cousin got into 2 Ivies and rejected from Georgetown (she is catholic too). My husband got into Duke and Johns Hopkins and was rejected from Georgetown. (not catholic) |
Yeah, I know -- I just mean they're pretty small in overall number. |
That's not a very large list, first of all -- and several of the churches/congregations listed are actually affiliated with Jesuit-run high schools are on or near Jesuit college campuses. The overwhelming majority of Catholic parishes are diocesan and are not Jesuit. |
Not sure what that's supposed to prove. I know hordes of kids who got into Ivies and were rejected at places like Northeastern, WashU, Tufts and Tulane. |
Thank you! The ND boosters are too dim to get that. Then, they have the gall to compare it to Ivies. ND = striver wannabes from hick town red Indiana. |
Yea. And you come off as real intelligent with that retort. |
Exactly our impression at our tour...very claustrophobic, worn down, very little green space. DS toured both ND and GU and didn't even apply to GU after seeing campus. After the fact we discovered the hotmess instagram account and realized he made the right decision. ND's campus is absolutely gorgeous and there is lots of new construction happening in the many open spaces they have. The new construction does not in any way impose of the space and beauty due to the sheer size of the campus. Georgetown just doesn't have the real estate to sustain its growth or the money to maintain its existing facilities. |

I would guess that this board is one of the few places in the world where these two are debated as equals.
Doesn't mean GT isn't a good school. It's not ND. I can't stand ND for a variety of reasons but any comparison isn't realistic. You have to really love DC to turn down ND and go to GT. |
| Is it because this is a DC-based forum? Georgetown is seriously way overrated. |
That is ignorant. People with knowledge of excellence in higher education are well aware of Georgetown. |
| Georgetown is not on the Common app yet it's acceptance rate is lower than NDs. Georgetown had way less money than ND buy is ranked similarly. That says all that needs to be said about these two schools. If Georgetown isn't prestigious ( which is preposterous, it's one of the most famous schools in the world) neither is Notre Dame. |
Most students have a desire to be in a big city, Georgetown had a lower acceptance rate for a reason. The same can be said of NYU and USC. |
Acceptance rates in a vacuum mean nothing. Tulane's is much lower than both ND and GU -- and it's not more prestigious than either. The difference between GU's and ND's acceptance rates is very small, but Notre Dame has a much higher yield that Georgetown -- well over half of accepted applicants end up enolling -- and Notre Dame's test scores for entering students are also higher. |
