Exactly.

I certainly don’t respect an Oberlin degree as a meaningful credential any longer.

Well said. I feel sorry for any parent who has a child there. What a hateful place.

Don’t worry about Oberlin parents. Let’s all pray to the Lord you didn’t offer your kids to the Catholic Church for reduced tuition.

What does the church have to do with this? That’s a pretty pathetic attempt to deflect from the issue.

If my kid was at Oberlin, I’d encourage a transfer.
I hate what Oberlin did to that town.

I went to Oberlin years ago — Gibsons was an institution. The emails I get as an alumnus from the college administration regarding this are all about face saving and doubling down.

I am appalled about that dean of students, her activities, and the fact that the administration via her was involved in this. I really want to know with the board has to say about this, but I’m not privy to those conversations so I have no idea.

You should ask. You should demand that they make reparations for their hateful behavior. I would. That’s the ONLY way to move forward. Or they won’t survive.

Who would send their child there now? Racists.

It’s interesting to see how most people, including Oberlin grads, in their old age turn alt-right.

Oberlin will die a slow death if they fail to do the right thing here.

I don’t know current students and current faculty members (the faculty when I was there are now mainly department chairs), but if this comment reflects the administration and student body opinion, then the college has changed much more than me.

It's the weird angry poster who keeps saying what Oberlin did was fine because it wasn't as bad as the Catholic church abuse scandals. I'm not sure how few brain cells are left in his/her brain but they should be on display in a museum as a cautionary tale.

Seems like someone is embarrassed to have a kid there.

Yup. It backfired spectacularly.

I truly hope this man and his family receive every dime they are owed. What unbelievable hubris on the part of Oberlin.

Agreed.
