Mass shooting at New Zealand mosque

Survivor Syed Mazharuddin told the NZ Herald: "The young guy who usually takes care of the mosque ... he saw an opportunity and pounced on (the gunman) and took his gun," said Mazharuddin.

"The hero tried to chase and he couldn't find the trigger in the gun ... he ran behind him but there were people waiting for him in the car and he fled."

That's impressive!!

And I replied.. why hasn't the NRA and Trump come out and say that Muslims should arm themselves to the teeth to protect themselves from white nationalists? "Good guy with a gun".. and all that.

Instead.. we just get "thought and prayers", and silence from the NRA, unlike when we have mass shootings here, when the NRA and Trump proclaim that we need to arm the good guys. I wonder why this is?

Elsewhere, the shooter disparages conservatism and declines to identify with it, writing that “conservatism is dead, thank god,” and calling it “corporatism in disguise.” Conservatives, he says, “don’t even believe in the race, they don’t have the gall to say race exists” and “don’t even care if it does.”

Weird stuff

he's a white nationalist. They are neither conservative nor liberal in their political ideology. They are more like the Nazis in their beliefs - white power, and all that sh1t; and that immigrants (Jews) are the problem.

That doesn't seem to be the case. He was dressed all in black and his views were leaning more towards his past communist beliefs, railing on about corporations, climate change, overpopulation, etc. He wanted to foment discord. He was not alone either, so I'll wait to see who his despicable cronies are.

He called himself an ecofascist, and his primary justification sounded far-left environmentalist, like the ecoterrorists in Europe in the 70s and 80s.

There is a sizable Fijian Muslim community that has lived there for along time.

The problem is with the more recently arrived Sunni and Ahmadi Muslims.

DP.... how many of them have committed a terrorist attack in New Zealand? Are they really the problem?

Here's a list of high profile shootings in NZ in the past. Not an extremist Muslim among the list.

And now we can add this shooting to the list.

Didn’t say the problem was any kind of shooting. The problem is that the more recently arrived Sunni and Ahmadi Muslims are from war torn countries and are not assimilating as well as the Fijian Muslims mentioned above. Compounding this is the outreach by Muslims to native M?ori who are comverting to Islam much ascAfrican Americans converted to Islam at the end of the 20th Centiry. The problem is the cultural clash.

So? Lots of Europeans went all over the world converting people to Christianity, including the country I'm originally from.

I was deleted because what you posted was different than this and, apparently, wrong.

His primary justification was that non-European immigrants were having too many babies. He has nothing in common with the ecoterrorists in Europe. Just like the Pittsburgh synagogue shooter, he was motivated by hatred towards non-white immigrants.

Because of climate change implications from the over-population they were causing. I believe that's what he said.

That's a bs excuse. Please stop supporting his bs. He is a white nationalist who blames immigrants for all the problems. Sounds eerily familiar.

It's what he said, however, and that makes it non-bs, even if it doesn't fit your narrative.

It's not *my* narrative. His motives are pretty transparent.

https://www.snopes.com/ap/2019/03/15/mosque-shooter-a-white-supremacist-angry-at-immigrants/

His victims, he wrote, were chosen because he saw them as invaders who would replace the white race.
