Why do Republican legislatures do this nonsense? They are clearly afraid of having to compromise

+ 1 Sore loser behavior.

They also have to work to suppress the vote because the changes in the electorate are not in their favor.

After high turnout in last year's midterm elections propelled Democrats to a new House majority and big gains in the states, several Republican-controlled state legislatures are attempting to change voting-related rules in ways that might reduce future voter turnout.

In Texas, state lawmakers are considering adding criminal penalties for people who improperly fill out voter registration forms. Arizona Republicans are proposing new voting rules that could make it more complicated to cast an early ballot. In Tennessee, GOP lawmakers are considering a bill that would fine groups involved in voter registration drives that submit incomplete forms.

What they need is voter ID laws nationwide with proof of citizenship to get an ID.

“After his son was accused and subsequently expelled from Washington University in St. Louis last year through the school’s Title IX process, a leading Jefferson City lobbyist launched a campaign to change the law for every campus in the state.

Had McIntosh’s 2018 amendment been enacted, it would have allowed his son to appeal the result of his Title IX hearing to the state Administrative Hearing Commission, where his mother and McIntosh’s wife, Audrey Hanson McIntosh, is the presiding and managing commissioner.”

“Eight senators, all Democrats, and four government ethics watchdog groups have requested that the Interior Department’s inspector general open formal investigations into various aspects of Mr. Bernhardt’s conduct. Among the chief complaints have been allegations, revealed by three separate New York Times investigations, that Mr. Bernhardt used his position to advance a policy pushed by his former lobbying client; that he continued working as a lobbyist after filing legal paperwork declaring that he had ceased lobbying; and that he intervened to block the release of a scientific report showing the harmful effects of a chemical pesticide on certain endangered species.

In a letter sent Monday to the senators who filed the ethics complaints, Mary L. Kendall, the deputy inspector general of the Interior Department, wrote that she had received seven complaints from “a wide assortment of complainants alleging various conflicts of interest and other violations” by Mr. Bernhardt, adding that she had “opened an investigation to address them.”

Boring. Remember Obama’s struggles to find a treasury secretary who had actually paid his taxes? Nice try though.

Ha ha, bringing up paying taxes -- that's your way of reminding everyone that Trump and his family have a history of evading taxes, right?

Hahaha, so does every liberal I know. Every one. They love the socialist programs, but they want someone else to pay for them.
No, it’s my way of reminding the trump delusion syndrome crowd that saint Barry has trouble filling his cabinet as well. His treasury picks just couldn’t seem to pay those rascally taxes.
Ps—please keep holding your breath to see trumps tax returns. You are never going to see them.

OK so you have one example from the Obama administration ten years ago to counter the 150 posts in this thread (very little discussion here) about the GOP from top to bottom just since September?

My president is personally kicking you and your party’s a&& to the curb. We are making America great again. The Obama Admin let the Russians interfere in a presidential election, apparently without any repercussions and told us all that high unemployment and low wages were the new normal. I think that says enough.

It isn't worth it. Republicans live in their own version of reality.
