No, it's not. The director had never read the book. He's an egomaniac who thinks he knows better than an author who although has been dead for 200 years has sold over 20 million copies even though. No one will remember his name in another 200 years, but Austen will be still going strong.

Perhaps, but it is a beautiful and enjoyable film on its own.
