“Historians have a word for Germans who joined the Nazi party, not because they hated Jews, but out of a hope for restored patriotism, or a sense of economic anxiety, or a hope to preserve their religious values, or dislike of their opponents, or raw political opportunism, or convenience, or ignorance, or greed.
That word is "Nazi." Nobody cares about their motives anymore. They joined what they joined. They lent their support and their moral approval. And, in so doing, they bound themselves to everything that came after. Who cares any more what particular knot they used in the binding?” ― A.R. Moxon |
Agree about consistent 3rd party voters. But it is ignorant to say Democrats did not have a coherent message. Of course they did. Trump voters could not listen to it. Democrats were fighting against a barrage of targeted, emotionally charged disinformation. That BS from the right has to stop. Look at how many people on this thread are continuing to cling to fake "facts" that have been clearly debunked and never had a shred of truth to them. THAT is the problem with politics today. |
Because they voted for Trump who has already show what he is. Gee let me stick my finger back in the socket... |
Exactly this. |

| I have been somewhat rage posting. Not crazy stuff, just factual articles about constitutional violations etc. Sometimes even with humor. There are a few Trumpers that I have known for 38 years. We've had some interesting back and forth. They are very adamant that they don't agree with me but were publicly even more adamant that they are glad I am voicing my opinion and they love the 1st amendment. One even reached out very nicely to see if I'm legitimately OK, like from a mental health standpoint. So both of these people are open, listening, and have not unfriended me. One said to me that we needed the 2nd amendment because of the 1st. I kinda chuckled at that. It's hard but we are having real conversations out in the open, and there are actually a few things I agree with them on. I understand some draw a hard line and I totally get it, but their ears are open and they at least intellectually understand my perspective. I won't cut them off even though this is extremely morally repugnant what is going on. |
Trump hasn’t stopped whining for 10 years. Your niceties are a facade. Hypocrites who sit in the first pew. All the bless your heart folks who’d stab a fellow parishioner in the back. Petty, dishonest, and intolerable. What you do tolerate are the depraved GOP sexual predators. Hundreds and hundreds. https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vTFikAP6MXDCJjWzgMIOvpsT1ji-HwO-rLEvNE8e-cfCGh0YHoZluIG5TEsmwFub7MzIDfh0XgvcWL8/pub Most are dbags across red states. You elected a felon and a depraved sexual predator who is nothing but a low intel shell of a man who sexualized his own daughter! Sat in a courtroom facing the woman he paid for sex as his 3rd wife looked the other way while holding their newborn. The adulation is sick. You are the company you keep, my dear. |
| My circle is probably 60/40 dem/GOP. I don't love this and I'm making more plans with the dems. I'm not unfriending the others completely but I have a much shorter fuse with them and if they aren't adding value to my life, they're out. I have a huge circle. I can lose a few without caring. The old white unapologetic Maga types are dead to me now. |
| No, but admittedly last night was rough because one couple we are friends with did vote for Trump and they and their kids cheered when he came on the screen and the rest of us sort of froze. We knew they voted for him. We argued about stuff during COVID. But honestly we had kind of left it alone recently because we have had bigger fish to fry with other issues and things going on in our lives. They know none of us voted for him. They know we all disagree with them on pretty much everything. So it was just uncomfortable for a minute and then we moved on. But I thought about it this morning when I woke up for some reason. I think it makes me feel gross but at the end of the day they are good people and good friends and we do enjoy their company so I think, for me, I am going to continue to not discuss it and not let it affect our friendship. If they were more outspoken or obnoxious about it I would probably feel different, but last night was the first time other than an Instagram post on Inauguration Day that I was reminded that they voted for him, and I don't believe that cutting them off as friends is going to change anything about the sh!t show that is currently happening. |
Nobody would care about Nazis who joined the party because of other reasons besides hating Jews if not for the holocaust. Since there’s nothing remotely like the holocaust happening, there’s no analogy. |
People who use that analogy are obsessed or mentally unwell. Our friends vote as they want, we don't dwell on politics lol |
Good people vote to take away human rights from you and your children? Good people vote for rapists and people who are actively trying to harm everyone except white males? Okay... |
Sounds like you could read a book or two on the conditions of Germany between the wars. |
Everyone saying it's hyperbolic said the same thing when I told them Trump was going to overturn Roe. Wake up. |
