If your kid is an admitted student, they should post this on the Discord site.

Thank you. Yes looked there but not as many posts as I’d hoped for, but yes it’s got some thanks!

This may not be directly answering your question but you may want to gently suggest to your daughter to think about balancing out her course load next semester --not necessarily take a class with an easier workload but with a different kind of work ie don't take 4 classes that are heavy on reading and writing.Maybe take a language instead --not easy but a different sort of work. Or a creative art course. That's what I advise my freshmen at a college where I teach.

OMG this was my post from two years ago. Since I saw the post again, I just wanted to update everyone on her situation. It became so overwhelming that she later took some time off from school. She saw a few doctors and a therapist and sorted things out. She was diagnosed with ADHD, which manifested attention deficit and executive dysfunction. it’s more often under diagnosed among girls with high intelligence and good self awareness. It only become obvious when they start college or become adults living away from home, when all of a sudden there are increasing requirements on managing time, self pacing and prioritizing activities, chores and school work. She was actually relieved when she finally understood what caused the physical and emotional toll on her, and she’s been handling it very well with the support of her school, her doctors and therapist, and family. Her grades are good, she got an internship this summer, and she is ready to kick off her Junior year. I hope her story will be somewhat helpful for freshman parents. For some parents your job is done yet when your kid is off to college. Best wishes to all!
