WAMU’s DCist newsletter today contained the “top stories” below. Keep in mind we’re on the brink of a shutdown that will have major ramifications for our region, not to mention a million other actual news items. Their lead is this—

Happy Wednesday DCist Daily readers! The sun has finally returned to the District and I for one hope we can keep the good weather going through this weekend for All Things Go!

Let's get straight into today's top stories:

The White House's art collection doesn't reflect the full diversity of American artists

McDonald's is honoring D.C.'s favorite condiment next month
And Montgomery County is following D.C.'s lead with its latest gas leaf blower ban

OP here- correct. I listen to WAMU. I actually was a member for years, but I stopped donating after the Mike Brown/ Ferguson Missouri coverage went off he rails. At one point they were blaming the old Korean shop owner (who was beaten by the twice larger Brown) for 'preying' on poor black neighborhoods and therefore got what he deserved.

RE: Bluegrass on HD- that is different. That's streaming, of course. I'm talking about a national broadcast of bluegrass for two hours every Sunday.

I bet they wouldn't even host Car Talk anymore even if the brothers were still alive.

For the record, the store owner’s name is Andy Patel and he is not Korean. That was a painful visual btw.

Generally I share OPs sentiment which is why I was surprised to hear the interview. I listen to books or podcasts on my commute now.

That was Fresh Air with Terri Gross and it was a great episode, actually. I’m not a fan of Justice Thomas’ ideology, but his story is extremely compelling.

Even Fresh Air though is phasing out Terri Gross and the person replacing her has been underwhelming.

Terry Gross is 72. I think it's likely she's phasing herself out. And yes, Tanya Mosley is no Terry Gross. But this is true of a lot of the older hosts that we've lost.
