'Southland' was pretty realistic in this way. Many of the officers lived in Castaic, about an hour outside Los Angeles, and were neighbors who'd go to each other's kids birthday parties and so forth.

That’s pretty much Girls. I had to cover my eyes at some of Lena Dunhams sex scenes with Adam Driver. I think you only need to watch the first episode.

I watched all of Girls and it’s totally different from SATC in tone and generation. Not at all what SATC would be like with people - actually only one person - who has sex with their bra on.

Every time a cop car rolls up to anywhere, it's got the sirens and lights.

I guess so you'll know it's a cop car. The same way you wouldn't be able to tell it was a horse unless it was neighing.

Also, the detective going off to a scary place to confront the bad guy. Alone. And without telling anyone. And then confronting the bad guy with their misdeeds, letting them know that they know. And being surprised that it ends badly.

Obvious, contrived or inappropriate colour blind casting. I couldn’t watch Bridgerton as there was no historic authenticity. Also couldn’t watch Wheel of Time where little villages were perfectly diverse. Made everything seem fake.

this happened to a son of my friends. Broke his ankle or leg and found cancer.

A friend's young son pulled a cup of hot tea down on himself. At the hospital, they found he had a rare peritoneal cancer that likely wouldn't have been discovered until it was too late had he not pulled the tea on himself. He's now an adult.

Another friend's sister had mild appendicitis. The dr. gave her the option of trying antibiotics before removing her appendix, but she was getting ready to start a doctoral program and because of how the classes were scheduled, needed to be reasonably sure she wouldn't miss time and chose to have her appendix removed. Turns out, she had appendix cancer from which she's recovered. Had she not opted for surgery then, the outcome likely would have been much worse.

Wtf? About half of my neighborhood is interracial couples and their mixed kids. Its nice to see that representation on shows/movies.

This just happened to an acquaintance of mine from HS - they thought her daughter had sprained her ankle and turns out it's bone cancer. She's doing chemo now. Scary.
