NP: awesome kid— will go far OP! |
I'm 14:01. Since I already provided a lot of details about my child, I don't want to add another one that might identify him. I will just say that he is at one of the Maine SLACs. His other applications were for three other NESCACs (he was a legacy at one but it was not his top choice) plus Northeastern, UMCP, Fordham and Lafayette. He withdrew all apps when he got in to his ED school and he was happy to have it done. |
You made good points up until your last snotty in-your-face line. Some of you need to get your own lives.
|
Ummm, "bet these kids wished they actually had fun in high school" is not a snotty in-your-face line? |
| Just remember sometimes the process can be killed by a subjective screener where your app didn’t make it to the full review board. |
Serious question- do you think your kid can recover photos on my phone after it was in water for a loooooong time? U break i fix could not recover the photos. And no unfortunately I didn’t have them backed up. |
Princeton needed a man like Joel |
Awesome! Congrats! |
So what was his 14th choice, where he got in? Let’s celebrate that! |
|
DC - 3.975 GPA unweighted at Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (one B). Presidential scholar candidate. 36 ACT single sitting. National science award winner. 1st tier ECs. DC Scholastic writing award winner.
White. Full pay. Rejected at all Ivy schools to which DC applied. Ridiculous. If you are not a URM it’s pretty hard out there. |
What, pray tell, are “first tier” extracurriculars? |
Maybe your kid should’ve tried being a recruited athlete. Or maybe you should have gone to an Ivy League school. Or you should have made more money to donate to a school. All easier ways of getting into college, but sure let’s blame the URMs again. |
Second in nation in national science contest, second-degree black belt taekwondo, winners scholastic writing competition, senior regional orchestra, winner Northern Virginia piano competition, band leadership role, competitive science internship, A+ and highest overall score in competitive Ivy summer science academy. |
Are you the same OP who complained about kids in "less rigorous courses" not getting in? With the "gentle soul," who is "18 going on 40?" You are no better than the PP, trust me. Again I say, you may want to look at how your own approach to and perspective on the world may be showing up in your kid, too. Arrogance is a horrible trait. |
| DC from TJ was admitted to very good schools. Probably going to the university of Chicago. But was completely shut out of the Ivy league. |
