Wrong. There are families quietly catching up on their own. We know of BASIS 8th grade families of the most advanced students working with tutors and heading to pre-college summer math camps. |
It doesn't sound like he's leaving just because he's fed up with admins. Sounds like the guy wants a happier school, where parent input is welcomed, where there's a real community and strong leadership. We'd leave if we had the dough. Many BASIS families surely would. |
"catching up" ... so their 8th grader can take calculus in 9th grade - LOL. Not exactly the definition of "catching up"! |
| There are BASIS 8th graders with the ability to handle 9th grade calc who aren't on track due to Covid school closures. There are families who can afford to try to get them on track. I'd so the same thing if my kid had the math talent. |
Me too. This all sounds good to me. I think Basis handled the pandemic wonderfully but it makes sense that a few things had to drop. |
| While a formal invite is still pending, my BASIS 8th grader is on track to take AP Pre-Calculus in 9th grade. I don’t see the reason to supplement over the summer so that s/he can take Calculus instead. That seems bizarre. |
Also, BASIS math club has been awesome, at least for my junior high student. I don’t know if it counts as supplementing, but the kids had a lot of fun! |
We are supposed to miss a parent who calls other people names and seems to hate the school and us? |
Agreed - the teacher is such a treasure! |
