Brunch Question....What goes with Lox?

Anonymous
If I would like to serve lox, cream cheese, bagels (+ fixings i.e. tomato, cucumbers, red onion and capers), fruit salad, OJ/coffee/tea, what else can I serve for brunch? Eggs? a Fritatta? Scones? Or would this all be enough?

I am mostly worried that one of the guests may not like lox.

Thanks!

I think your menu sounds delicious. You could have assorted muffins and breakfast breads. Or make a French toast casserole or easy veggie and cheese quiche.

Mimosas and bloody Marys make everything at brunch fun!

Bacon!

Egg/tuna/chicken salads (for the bagels)

an egg casserole goes great with bagels and lox

Egg salad. Also is a good option for vegetarians.

I would add an egg casserole or quiche to it and a sweet item like coffee cake. As a vegetarian, we like the bagels and cream cheese just fine without the lox, so I wouldn't feel left out by lox being served.

really? I wouldn't ...we do bagels and lox, a quiche, fruit salad, and maybe a stuffed french toast dish or something else sweet muffins even... We have also done tuna/egg salad which goes over well...

If someone doesn't like the lox they can still make a bagel with all the other fixings. Maybe just offer a few sufferer types if cream cheese and jams as well. Maybe some muffins or breakfast bread.

I would do a fritatta and something sweet like a coffee cake or muffins.

There is a really nice egg and ground turkey casserole I found on the web with shredded potatoes. It was delicious. Of course, I can't find the recipe, but if you poke around you can find it.

Assuming you set this up as a make-your-own bagel, if someone doesn't like lox, they have other options. Easy additions are jams and/or peanut butter (for anyone who doesn't do dairy).

A veggie fritata would be a great addition. Or chicken salad. If on the later side, a green salad might be nice.

Quick bread or muffins are tasty, but it depends on your group. So many of our friends are trying to cut back on sweets and carbs that they might not appreciate the temptation.
