Which HS do Kenwood residents attend?

We are interested in looking to buy in the Kenwood neighborhood -- does anyone know whether that area is zoned for BCC or Whitman? Also, what can I except to pay these days for a home in that area? TIA.

Sorry meant "expect" to pay. Tks.

It is Whitman...small geographic area, most kids go to privates. Not sure of current pricing, other than expensive.

kenwood is B-CC not Whitman

It's BCC though most people here go private. A couple of recent sales at the lower end have been around 1.8 to 2.0. The nicer, bigger houses go for much, much more. It is a very conservative neighborhood, very Junior League. Also, very private and great for walking and biking.

Kenwood goes to BCC. Kenwood Park goes to Whitman

What does that mean?

Rich SAHMs who have hired help, time on their hands, a desire to mingle with their own kind, and (perhaps) a sense of guilt as to whether they deserve their station in life = a budding Junior Leaguer.

Can you walk to downtown Bethesda?

Of course, although depending on where you are it could be a couple of miles. The part near the Kenwood Club would be a bit of a hike. Nearer to Little Falls Parkway at Dorset is on the CC Trail so more walkable. I doubt anyone does it though.

Right. When you live in a $3.4 million house, you don't 1. Send kids to public so it doesn't matter what the zoned school is and 2. You don't walk to do errands or pick up some takeout.

These disconnect threads always crack me up

What PP said, sort of. From some parts of Kenwood, downtown Bethesda is definitely walkable. But would you actually do it? Probably not. If you work in Bethesda, do you want to walk on the trail? If going to Metro, Friendship Heights is probably a closer walk (1.3 miles from Dorset & Little Falls, IIRC?)

What's more likely to happen, is that parts of Kenwood are walkable to the Whole Foods, pizza place, bagel place all at the shopping center at River Road and Ridgefield Drive, or if you want to go further, Westwood Shopping Center is just beyond with Giant, county liquor store, toy store, banks, lots of other stuff.

But I don't think that's likely to happen either.

RE: the original question, Kenwood is zoned for B-CC, but everyone I know there now sends their kids to private or Catholic.

We have friends in Kenwood. They walk and bike on the trail to Bethesda. Some send their kids to public school; some to private. Celebrities . . . they're just like us!

Kenwood does not seem more expensive than Somerset, Edgemoor, or Chevy Chase Village. Why this impression of exclusivity?
